Betsy Gilbert

Director M.A. CCC-SLP

Betsy Gilbert is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 10 years of experience. She holds a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Betsy developed Therapy Works LLC due to her dedication to providing quality speech therapy services.  Through Betsy’s experience in the outpatient and Early Intervention settings, she saw a need for a family approach to treatment after a child turns 3.  Therapy Works LLC encourages families to be involved through the entire therapeutic process.  Betsy has expertise in the areas of receptive/expressive language disorders, language delay, fluency, and AAC. She has a passion for working with children and adults with Down Syndrome. When not working, Betsy enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, and exercising.

Kaitlin Debar
Kaitlin

Lead OT – OTR/L

Kaitlin Debar holds a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Clarion University with 2 years of teaching experience. Kaitlin has worked with children for much of her adult life. Before coming to Therapy Works, Kaitlin worked in an outpatient clinic and in a public school. Kaitlin has expertise in fine motor and sensory. Kaitlin and her husband are expecting their first child this September. Kaitlin grew up in the South Hills and is excited to raise her family in this wonderful part of town. When not working, Kaitlin loves spending time with her dog, Mertz, travel, and spend time with friends and family.

Diana Goodman

Diana Goodman holds a Masters of Science (MS) in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University and, most recently, a Clinical Science Doctorate (CScD) in Occupational Therapy with a focus in Pediatrics from University of Pittsburgh. Diana has worked as an occupational therapist with individuals from age 2 through 24 with various disabilities in homes, day cares, private, public and charter schools, and residential settings throughout Boston, Washington, D.C., and the greater Pittsburgh area. Diana grew up in New Jersey. She has lived in Pittsburgh with her fiancee since 2016.  One of Diana’s professional interests, and the focus of her doctoral work, is working with transition-age individuals with disabilities to prepare for participation in employment.  In her free time, she loves to travel, especially to visit family and friends.

Certified Special Needs Fitness Instructor

Autumn is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.  Autumn has experience working with children in a variety of different settings including the daycare and home.  Areas of interest include articulation and phonology, pragmatics, and pediatric dysphagia. When not working, Autumn enjoys running and spending time with her family.

Holly Ware
Holly

Lead ST – M.S. CCC-SLP

Holly is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 9 years of experience. She holds a Master’s of Science Degree from Duquesne University’s School of Health Sciences. Holly’s work history includes experience in the pediatric outpatient, school, and home based settings. Her areas of interest include augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), sensory based feeding therapy, articulation/phonology, and language. Holly loves finding ways to make her therapy sessions fun and motivating for the children that she serves. She enjoys adapting games and activities to meet the needs of her clients.

Brittany Smith

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Brittany carries an Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from Kaplan Career Institution and is currently working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist. Brittany has always loved working with children and loves what she does!  Brittany and her husband live in the South Hills and have 2 little girls. Brittany loves to travel, ski and spend time with her family.

Brittney Barr is the newest speech language pathologist on the Therapy Works Team.  Before joining Therapy Works in January 2020, Brittney worked in the school setting with elementary through high school aged students.  She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Master in Speech Pathology program, where she gained additional experience in the pediatric private practice, early intervention, and adult medical settings.  Her therapy interests include Alternative and Augmentative Communication, early language development, expressive/receptive language disorders, and articulation disorders.  In her free time, Brittney enjoys baking, hiking, and spending time with her husband and two children.  

Christy Miller

Christy Miller holds a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Clarion University. Before coming to Therapy Works, Christy worked in an outpatient clinic providing speech, language, and feeding therapy to children ages 2 through 21. Her areas of interest include pragmatics, articulation and phonology, and language delay. Christy and her husband are expecting their first child and are excited to grow their family in the Pittsburgh area. When not working, Christy enjoys kayaking, singing, spending time with her cat, Nala, and her family. 

Kayla Pavlock

Kayla received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland. Prior to joining the Therapy Works team in 2019, she worked at an outpatient clinic for children from ages 1.5 to 18 years in the Baltimore area, but knew that Pittsburgh always felt like home. Her professional interests include Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), early language development through play, expressive and receptive language disorders, and pragmatic language skills. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, her dog Penny, and crafting 

Jodie Shaw

Medical Biller/Office Associate

Jodie began working for Therapy Works as the Medical Biller and Office Associate in March 2020.  Jodie graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Nutrition. After graduating, she completed an internship and became a Registered Dietitian. Jodie then started working as Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.  After working at Pfizer, she moved to Amgen as an Oncology Health Systems Manager. In 2009, Jodie decided to take some time away from the workforce to focus on her growing family. When Jodie’s son needed speech therapy, Betsy Gilbert was recommended to help.  The experience was so positive and successful that Jodie approached Betsy about potentially working for Therapy Works as a member of the team.  Jodie is excited to be member of such an amazing company.
